Biopsy

Prayers of peace and comfort for Nancy Angelo (friend of Carole Adams).  Nancy will be having a breast biopsy tomorrow.  Pray for the calcium deposits to be benign!

Healing and Comfort

Prayers of healing for our Spanish teacher's mother, Olga Valverde.  She fell down over Thanksgiving break and broke her hip.  She is still at UCSF and now has pneumonia.  (87 years old)

Surgery

My sister Patty is having out-patient surgery tomorrow morning to install a port for her chemotherapy which starts this Friday.

Please pray for a successful surgery and limited side-effects from the chemo. Also for peace and comfort for her.

Thanksgiving

This came the week of Thanksgiving...

Since we are especially focused on 'giving thanks" this week, I would like to offer a prayer of thanks for my parents.  As many know, my mom has battled complications from diabetes for many years.  She had one leg amputated several years ago and now has a skin infection in the remaining foot.  She has been battling a gum infection and has lost several teeth with the chance of having the remaining teeth removed.  Recently,her blood sugar levels have been dropping dramatically and extremely fast.  She cannot feel it coming on, it happens so fast.  Two nights ago,my dad woke up during the night and found my mom unconscious in her chair in the living room.  My dad has become an expert in reviving her from low sugar.  This time she was too far gone and he had to call 911.  The paramedics revived her and took her to the hospital for a couple hours to make sure she was stabilized.  This is the second time in about two weeks that my dad has found her this way.  I am so very thankful for my dad and his ability and willingness to care for my mom.  I know it is so scary to not know what he will find when he comes home each day.  I am also thankful that God has His hand on them and guides my dad home or wakes him at just the right moment to be able to revive her. I know that one of these times my dad may not hear the nudges or they may not come, but for now...l give thanks.

The old hip has worn out, I got 17 years out of it.  So on December 14 I go under the knife and get a replacement!

Thank you so much for the lovely cards, visits and phone calls during my recent stay in the hospital and now at home.  They mean so much to me.  I have my prayer quilt with me and feel so comforted.  I am taking short walks to regain my strength, going through therapy and getting better every day.  I look forward to seeing everyone soon.

Thanks for all your prayers,cards.calls and the precious beautiful prayer quilt. I'm at home recovering from surgery snuggling and warm. Each day I pray for strength and positive feelings extended by all of Calvary members.

Treatments

Please pray for Joanna Chan, she has been dealing with lung cancer for the past year.  Last week she had scans to see if it was responding to the treatments.  Unfortunately, they found three new spots.  She will be undergoing new chemo treatments.  Pray for healing and that the treatments would not make her ill. 

We gave Joanna a quilt earlier this year and a month or so ago she came to Wednesday morning quilting to thank us personally – and bring us treats.  She is a precious Christian lady.

Prayers of thanksgiving for Sid Nickles who was discharged this morning.  His meds. were changed which should help the irregular heart beat.

Also, Mabel Stafne is still in ICU but had a good day yesterday.

Thanksgiving

Prayers of thanksgiving for Virginia Dottaviano who had cataract surgery this morning, all went well- she's at home resting.  Prayers for a full recovery.

Wisdom

Mabel's condition is still the same.  Prayers for wisdom as the doctor's try and diagnose her.  Further testing will be done when she is not so agitated.

Comfort and Doctors' Wisdom

Please pray for our sister Mabel.

 
Bill and I did go to visit Mabel at Eden Hospital  Tuesday afternoon.  We visited with Trudy and Anne Marie - Mabel was sleeping very soundly and does not wake easily.  For most of the day she had a very difficult day, in pain, very confused and very agitated. Evidently she did not hit her head when she fell and the doctor's do not know what is causing all of this.  They have done numerous tests, MRI, etc and can see that she has lesions throughout the whole area of the brain and a lot of swelling.
 
They started her on anti viral medication tonight.  Tomorrow she will have an MRI again, an echocardiogram to look for infection and a Lumbar Puncture.  They are very puzzled. Pray that the doctors find the cause of all the things that are happening to Mabel. 

Mabel and Adolf and all their family need our prayers in this difficult time.

Pray for peace and spiritual protection for Mabel Stafne. Yesterday  she was saying ready to go home to God today she dosent seem like her self saying nasty Spiteful words and trying to get out Of bed. She is under a spiritual attack  Our sister needs us all.

Healing and Doctors' Wisdom

Mabel Stafne fell last night.  They took her to Eden and she has a blood clot in her left leg, also MRSA and swelling of the brain.  She was scheduled for an MRI today .  Pray for peace and comfort for Mabel and family as they await results and wisdom for the doctors as they determine how to treat Mabel.

Please include my cousin Shelia in your prayers as the pathology report just received showed some cells in the partial lung they are concerned about.  She will be starting chemo this coming week.  However, as of this time they feel she will only require three treatments three weeks apart.  Also, pray for her husband Joe as he goes through this time of treatment with her.  She and I thank you for your prayers.

Praise and Thanks

Thank you Jesus for your never-ending grace. Thank you to my family in Christ Jesus for all your prayers, love and concern. My second testing detected no cancer or anything else to be concerned about. Results showed an enlarged lymph node, the result of my body trying to fight off a bug of some kind. Next year I'll have my regular exam and I hope that all my sisters at Calvary will be doing the same.

Susan Hoffman was moved to Alta Bates today where she will go through some reading and comprehension therapy.  Prayers for  complete healing and recovery also for her spirits to be lifted as she goes through this process.
