New Medication...

Rick De La Cruz ECHO results show that his heart is working too hard to pump blood into his system.  He was put on a Beta Blocker.  Prayers for this to work and for Rick to begin to feel better.

A Friend of Bettie Benz is looking for a room in the Castro Valley, San Leandro, San Lorenzo area.  Colleen was a caregiver for an elderly woman that just passed away and has to move out ASAP.  She is a divorced, 49 year old woman who is an excellent cook and will also be going to school part time in Castro Valley.  If you are interested in renting a room or know someone who is, please call the church office.

Back Surgery

A dear Christian friend of more than 45 yrs is having a cervical fusion done Wed.

Lives in Minneapolis,  This is her 3rd cervical procedure so doctors have settled on

a fusion with hopes to relieve her almost constant pain,  Please pray for all to go

Healing and Tests...

Two weeks ago, I had congestive heart failure. I had shortness of breath, body was retaining water and after x-rays, blood test and CT scan, my doctor at Kaiser finally started me on medication and special diet. I lost 15 lbs. in 9 days but yesterday my legs started retaining water again. Today, I will be at Kaiser for a scheduled ECHO test. Please pray for a positive result and for my body to stop retaining water again.

Thanksgiving and Healing

Prayers of praise and thanksgiving for my friend Ann's successful 4-1/2 hr. surgery last Friday.  She went home on Sunday evening.  Total recovery and healing will be up to six weeks.  Thank you for your faithful prayers.

Peaceful Passing

Prayers of healing for Jordyn Brauer, she is having testing done.  She has an enlarged pupil; possibly a result of an old injury.  She is having a CAT scan done right now. 

Also, prayers of peace and comfort for Carol Liston and family.  The doctors feel that it is just a matter of time before Carol's mom, Velma is called home to be with our Lord.

New Baby Boy!

Melissa McCartney gave birth to a healthy baby boy late yesterday afternoon. She had a very long labor and they thought she would need a C-section. Mother, Dad, baby and Grandma Kelly are all doing well! Thanks so much for everyone's Prayers!

Healing for two

Please continue to pray for our uncle George Schurz.  He had his pacemaker replaced with a defibrillator type this past Thursday an he was set to come home on Monday/Tuesday.  However, Sunday they discovered some unknown bleeding and they will likely be performing both upper and lower GI scoping, delaying his release. 

The bleeding could be the cause of his anemia.  Please pray that all the tests go well and that they are able to discover and treat the source of the bleeding, and also for thanks that the problem was discovered before he left the hospital and started back to California by train/bus.

Please also pray for our cousin Travis (George's son and the reason he went back to Texas) as he developed blood clots in each of his lungs and also a minor case of pneumonia, which will extend his stay in the hospital by 3-4 days.  Pray that he will recover form the broken hip/surgery quickly and will be able to leave the hospital soon.  Please also pray that once he leaves the hospital that he will successfully complete alcohol rehab.

Recovery and Healing

Prayers for Tiffany Contier's friend, Jennifer's father (the one we did a prayer quilt for that was in a motorcycle accident).  He finally had a few good days, but now he's not doing well again, they think he may have the flu.  Pray for wisdom for the doctors and a pair of fresh eyes to re-evaluate him.  Prayers for patience and a full recovery.

Thanksgiving

Uncle George had the angiogram this morning and received the all clear as far as heart blockages. No stints or clearing of his arteries were needed.  As such he will now have the new pacemaker and defibrillator placed at 3:00 this afternoon. We ask for prayers for a successful placement and speedy recovery. 

Thanks once again for your continued prayers. We are very thankful Uncle George has been able to recover so quickly from this.

Healing and Strength

To our Calvary Lutheran family, many thanks for your prayers. The Lord is gracious and kind. As you already know, Peter is losing hair. Almost half of his hair has fallen out. We were very concerned. Last Monday, the doctor did some blood tests and yesterday a specialist examined him further. Both returned promising results. The specialist said, Peter will outgrow this disorder and the doctor said, the lab test results were all normal. Although Peter is not completely healed yet, the Lord just told us not to worry. For that we could not be happier. We thank the Lord and all of you for caring. May the Lord always bless all of you and give you peace. Thank you,

Took son, Stephen to the doctor yesterday morning and found out he has Type1diabetes. He's been admitted to Kaiser Oakland, to get sugars stabilized and educate us. Probably 2-3 days. His sugars were 427 when admitted; 80 -100 is normal. He seems to be doing ok with diagnosis, but this is all still new.  Pray for strength and encouragement.

Prayers of praise and thanks as Uncle George is off the respirator and able to respond to conversation. He'll be having an angiogram on Wednesday, and will receive a new pacemaker with a defibrillator. He is expected to be in the hospital for a few days after the procedure but is doing very well.

Recovery and Healing

Prayers of healing for our uncle George Schurz (mom's brother), he is 89 years old. Saturday he was visiting his son in Texas and he passed out and hit his head and his heart stopped and they had to shock him (he has a pacemaker).  Currently his vital signs are stable but he is unresponsive (he is heavily sedated due to the breathing tube).  Please pray that the doctor's are able to determine what is wrong and that he is able to recover.

Emergency healing

Prayers of healing for Jan Curlers friend.  She had an emergency c-section today.  Gave birth to a baby boy.  Both mom and baby are in critical condition.  

Dr's Wisdom and Healing

Please pray for my brother-in-law, Allan Hicks, who is in the hospital with pulmonary embolisms in each lung. Give the doctors the wisdom and knowledge to treat him and give comfort to my sister-in-law and the rest of the family as they go through this ordeal.

Biopsy

Sylvia Meade has asked that her new daughter-in-law ---Eileen Meade---be kept

in our prayers.  She is having a breast biopsy tomorrow. It was through recent

cardiac studies that a lump was discovered. 

Peace and Comfort

Prayers of peace and comfort for Ginny Dottaviano.  She is now in the ER at Kaiser.  Pray for God to watch over her as decisions are being made for her care.

Remission, Peace, and Calmness

Please pray again for my cousin Shelia whose lung cancer has returned after initial surgery and chemo.  She will be starting 5 radiation treatments on Fri., Jan.11 and completing them on Jan. 21.  Our prayers are for total remission and peace and calmness as she remains in His hands.  We thank you again for your faith and prayers.  Love in Jesus,

Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Prayers for a successful surgery tomorrow morning at 7:40am for Tammy Contier who is having all four wisdom teeth pulled.  Prayers for the doctor and for no complications.

Here is an update on the prayer request for our friend Frank Murphy – Wednesday he fell and broke his nose, while walking the dog. His heart valve replacement surgery, which was scheduled for this morning has been postponed. Please pray for wisdom for the doctors in evaluating his condition and the course of treatment.

Travel Mercies and Healing

Please pray for travel mercies for our son John and his wife Winsa.  Winsa is already in Hong Kong and John flies out on Sunday night.  They will be having a delayed wedding reception on Jan. 11 and then a short delayed honeymoon to Japan.(Married 8/30/2011.)  Pray they will have a blessed and enjoyable reception with family and friends and a safe trip home.

A prayer of thanksgiving for my friend Fran.  Her dry socket infection after wisdom tooth removal is now gone and she is feeling much, much better. Fran and I thank you for your prayers.

Cori DeTurk is home and doing very well- her family said you would never even know she was sick.  She will be scheduled for surgery in 6 weeks.
