After two days of medically induced stress tests, the doctors have determined that her heart is healthy enough to have surgery on her carotid artery to clear out the 70% blockage that she has. It will be an uncomfortable surgery and recovery. Please pray that all goes well and there are no complications. Also, that she heals quickly and without any diabetes problems.

I would like to request prayers for a young man named Reed. He has been in and out of the hospital several times over the last couple of months. He's been dealing with several different health issues related to his heart, blood clots, infections, etc. Reed has had to face many challenges in his life. He was diagnosed with cancer at a very young age and was able to overcome it, but it left him wheelchair bound. Please pray for his strength and healing. His mom, Debbie, is someone I went to high school with. She too is a cancer survivor. Please pray for her also because she is a single mom that cares for him 24/7.

Our son John's employer, Taleo, has been purchased by Oracle. This purchase could affect the 1400 employees. There are 300 plus employees in the home office in Dublin where John works. Hi Family & Friends,

Debi has completed her journey thru this life on earth and is now with the Lord. She passed away over the weekend. We knew it was close for about three weeks. We all have made many trips back and forth from Visalia to Orange UCI medical center. We have been here all week and each day she was declining and finally we were told 2 to 3 days - no more than a week (that was Thursday). The cancer was spreading fast and there was nothing they could do to reverse that - all they could do was make her comfortable. She passed peacefully and was not in pain! Debi was a believer and we praise God that she is with the Lord today. The head Chaplin (who happens to be on staff at Saddleback Church) was with us all two times yesterday and at that time Debi was still able to respond, hear & understand - we had a good time with her during that time.

All the California family is here and the three girls (Deb's sisters) stayed all night at the hospital for the last two nights. They are crashed in the next room to us right now. We all are very exhausted - but we are all sad and happy at the same time - sad that Debi had to leave us, but happy that she is cancer free now and with Jesus.

We thank all of you and your churches for all your prayers, notes, emails, etc. during this long journey thru Debi's illness! Some of the folks who have journeyed with us I do not have their email - please pass this on to them (especially those at Visalia Mobile Estates; Peace, Taft; Trinity, Exeter; Calavary, San Lorenzo; Emmanuel, Clovis; Grace, Modesto; Christ, Yuma; First, Temple City; Circuit Pastors, etc.). Some may have email but I do not have them all with me here. We don't know at this moment when we will be coming home. Thank you all again!

Jan & I are asking if your prayer groups would please pray for Debi Barnhart our 3rd from the oldest daughter (51 yrs. old) who has lung cancer - stage 4 and is in ICU at Irvine (at the cancer hospital). We were told yesterday that she may have 1-2 weeks to go. They have called in a couple doctors from UCLA to evaluate the situation to be sure that nothing else can be done. The family and many brothers and sisters in Christ are still believing for a miracle, but Debi is prepared to go and it is a win - win situation for her as she is a believer. By the way, she never smoked. She was exposed to second hand when Jan & I smoked which was when she was much younger. Your prayers will be greatly appreciated. God's blessings to the brothers/sisters at Calvary.

This came the week of Thanksgiving...

Since we are especially focused on 'giving thanks" this week, I would like to offer a prayer of thanks for my parents. As many know, my mom has battled complications from diabetes for many years. She had one leg amputated several years ago and now has a skin infection in the remaining foot. She has been battling a gum infection and has lost several teeth with the chance of having the remaining teeth removed. Recently,her blood sugar levels have been dropping dramatically and extremely fast. She cannot feel it coming on, it happens so fast. Two nights ago,my dad woke up during the night and found my mom unconscious in her chair in the living room. My dad has become an expert in reviving her from low sugar. This time she was too far gone and he had to call 911. The paramedics revived her and took her to the hospital for a couple hours to make sure she was stabilized. This is the second time in about two weeks that my dad has found her this way. I am so very thankful for my dad and his ability and willingness to care for my mom. I know it is so scary to not know what he will find when he comes home each day. I am also thankful that God has His hand on them and guides my dad home or wakes him at just the right moment to be able to revive her. I know that one of these times my dad may not hear the nudges or they may not come, but for now...l give thanks.

Bill and I did go to visit Mabel at Eden Hospital Tuesday afternoon. We visited with Trudy and Anne Marie - Mabel was sleeping very soundly and does not wake easily. For most of the day she had a very difficult day, in pain, very confused and very agitated. Evidently she did not hit her head when she fell and the doctor's do not know what is causing all of this. They have done numerous tests, MRI, etc and can see that she has lesions throughout the whole area of the brain and a lot of swelling.

They started her on anti viral medication tonight. Tomorrow she will have an MRI again, an echocardiogram to look for infection and a Lumbar Puncture. They are very puzzled. Pray that the doctors find the cause of all the things that are happening to Mabel.

Mabel and Adolf and all their family need our prayers in this difficult time.

Mabel Stafne fell last night. They took her to Eden and she has a blood clot in her left leg, also MRSA and swelling of the brain. She was scheduled for an MRI today . Pray for peace and comfort for Mabel and family as they await results and wisdom for the doctors as they determine how to treat Mabel.

Please include my cousin Shelia in your prayers as the pathology report just received showed some cells in the partial lung they are concerned about. She will be starting chemo this coming week. However, as of this time they feel she will only require three treatments three weeks apart. Also, pray for her husband Joe as he goes through this time of treatment with her. She and I thank you for your prayers.

My second testing detected no cancer or anything else to be concerned about. Results showed an enlarged lymph node, the result of my body trying to fight off a bug of some kind. A prayer of praise and thanksgiving for my cousin Shelia's partial lung removal surgery a week ago this last Monday. The surgery went very, very well. She went home on Monday and did not have to have oxygen. I spoke to her on the phone and she was not even short of breath and says she feels wonderful. They were all amazed at her quick recovery. Continue to pray for her recovery and the results of the pathology which she won't have until November 1. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS. Love in Jesus, Audrey Ohanesian

Update on Marlene Mueller... She went home last Saturday and is receiving in home therapy twice a week to help strengthen her. She is recovering well and is very thankful for all of your prayers, cards and visits.

Brian Pye's surgery went well and he is resting at home, chomping at the bit. Stay in bed Brian!! Prayers for a quick and full recovery.

Prayers for complete healing and successful treatments for Leanne Mueller's mother, Joyce Schwartz. She was recently diagnosed with recurring cancer. Spots were found on her lung and breast. Doctor says the cancer is a regressive type and they will be able to stop progression with oral drugs.

My mother, Esther Garguilo, was admitted to Eden Hospital yesterday. So far the doctors found she has a urinary infection, which can cause her confused state and speech problems. They will do more testing including an MRI of her brain. I will keep you updated as we know more. Thank you for your prayers.

Thank you for your answered prayers for my cousin Shelia. Her lung cancer is Stage 1 and the lymph nodes are not affected so they will be able to remove one-half of her lung. She will be having that surgery on Monday morning (3 1/2 - 4 hours) so please continue to pray for her and the medical staff that all will go well. Also, pray for her to be surrounded by His healing arms and His peace and strength now and through recovery. Thank you and God bless.

My operation is on hold till I lose a substantial amount of weight, and the odds improve. Maybe the weight loss will negate the need for the operation. My dad, Chuck, just went into the hospital in NC with GI bleeding. They performed colon surgery and found nothing. So the hunt is on to find the cause. Please pray that someone can figure it out, this same thing happened last year and after a week in the hospital they sent him home with no explanation of cause.

Please pray for my cousin Shelia who has just learned that she has lung cancer. She will have final results Thursday of some additional testing that will determine the course of treatment. Pray for a good result on the Monday test and guide the doctors in their choice of treatment. She is a Christian but don't know if she is in a fellowship at this time. Pray that she and her husband Joe will find peace and strength knowing that He is by their sides through it all. God bless you all.

Marlene has been getting stronger each day. She is up to 100 steps now with a walker. They say she has to go 150 and be able to maneuver into the bathroom before she can come home. I am hoping that she will be able to come home by the middle of next week.

The quilters are a fine looking group of women. How nice to receive the picture today. I have just had my last Radiation treatment. I understand that I will still feel the effects of the radiation for a couple of months, however, the burns will gradually disappear and the CANCER should be all gone. Bye now

Karla Regnier's mother, Willine was admitted to Kaiser yesterday. She is getting 3 blood transfusions. They will run more tests to find out why her blood levels are so low. Prayers for strength and comfort.
